# Owners

Reference for the owner endpoints, covering how to retrieve, update, and delete an owner of a processing account or a funding recipient.

Use our Owners endpoints to retrieve, update, or delete an owner.

In our API, there are two types of owners:

- **Owner of a processing account** - An individual who owns the relationship between Payroc and the processing account. Use our [Create Merchant Platform](/api/create-merchant) method or our [Create Processing Account](/api/create-processing-account) method to add an owner to a processing account.
- **Owner of a funding recipient** - An individual who is associated with the funding recipient. Use our [Create Funding Recipient](/api/create-funding-recipient) method or our [Create Funding Recipient Owner](/api/create-fund-recipient-owner) method to add an owner to a funding recipient.

Our gateway assigns an ownerId to each owner, which you can use to:

**Important:** You can't update the details of an owner of a processing account.
